MNB Research

Sector research that ends in a working system, not a slide deck.

Six deep-dives into the Indian sectors we build for — manufacturing, retail, healthcare, legal and professional services, logistics and financial services. Market data is quoted from named public sources with the year it refers to, and where sources disagree we show both rather than picking quietly.

Why we publish this

The research and the build are usually two different companies.

Firms like Deloitte, BCG, Bain, KPMG and McKinsey produce genuinely excellent India research. India’s trade bodies publish alongside consulting research, and we credit whoever published each figure.

What we do differently is narrower: we do not stop at the recommendation. The same team that writes the analysis builds and runs the software that acts on it. Thirteen products of our own, in production. That is the entire distinction we are claiming — not better analysis, but analysis that arrives attached to a system.

How we source

Our sourcing standard

Named source or it does not run

Every figure carries the body that published it. If we cannot attribute a number, we leave it out.

Dates on everything

A 2021 figure presented as current is misleading. Where a source publishes an undated figure, we label it undated.

Rupees where conversions disagree

Several public datasets carry inconsistent dollar conversions. Where that happens we quote the rupee figure and say why.

We flag our sources’ own errors

Where a published dataset contradicts itself, we note the contradiction rather than pick the flattering number.

Primary sources

India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF) is a trust established by India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Where IBEF credits an underlying source — RBI, IRDAI, UNESCO, NASSCOM, Crisil, ICRA, Moody's, JLL, Grant Thornton — that attribution is carried through on the relevant page.
